How do you select the correct size for your wedding cake? 

Begin with the size of your reception guests. How many guests are you expecting? Cakes usually have a range of guests they can feed. You want to start though by figuring at least one slice, or cupcake per guest. The following chart shows the approximate number of guests per cake shape:

Five tips for choosing the perfect wedding cake


1. Choose a Reputable Bakery!

Brides to be should definitely check out bakeries online. You want to work with a bakery that has real feedback from other brides and grooms. Next you should visit the bakery in person and meet the staff. it is important that you walk out of the bakery knowing full well what to expect when you leave from your appointment. 2. Give Yourself Adequate Time to Choose a Cake

Three to six months is enough time to plan the cake choice. Once a bride and groom know the colors of the wedding, scheme and venue its a good time to get the cake designed and ordered so that it does not come down to crunch time.


3. Make Sure You LOVE How the Cake Tastes!

I cannot stress enough how important this is! Arrange your cake consultation and tasting. If the cake is to have filling, or multiple flavors, taste each one individually. Basic flavors like chocolate and vanilla will vary depending on how the cake was made, its frosting and filling. Do not take for granted it will taste the "way it always does."  


4. Get Creative!

Cookie cutter tiered cakes with the white plastic figurines on tops are a thing of the past. Don't get me wrong if you want traditional, its up to you. Many brides choose to incorporate their color scheme into the decorations and bring it with them for coordination. Some brides even coordinate the jewelry (pearls, diamonds, rubies for example) they are going to be wearing! Also themed weddings are very popular among brides. From outdoor to winter wonderlands, any type of cake can accommodate custom themes.


5. Be Inspired

Being different is becoming very popular. You can search sites such as Pinterest or Instagram to find new ideas and the latest trends. Even shapes, round, square and even wedding cupcakes are gaining popularity.
